How do I find the right lab?
Sooner or later, this question is asked by everyone: from manufacturers and distributors to retailers.
Because one thing is for sure: the choice is large, but it is important that the cooperation runs smoothly so that everyone can bring safe products to the market.
Here are 8 points to help you with your decision making:
1. Is the lab accredited?
To ensure that the lab results are accepted worldwide it is important that the lab is accredited. For this, the work processes must be transparent and reproducible, i.e. a QM system must be implemented. This ensures that the highest possible quality of results is guaranteed and that they are internationally accepted.
The food laboratories of the Tentamus Group are all ISO17025 accredited.
2. Are suitable (accredited) methods available?
As food products are extremely complex, other criteria besides the accreditation of the laboratory have to be taken into consideration. Is the method you need also accredited? And is it accredited for the matrix you have? Does the laboratory regularly participate in interlaboratory comparisons? And is the chosen method also the right one for your product or are the limits of quantification sufficient for you?
All these questions are not always easy to answer, but our experts will advise you on all these points so that you are on the safe side regarding accreditations, limits of quantification, etc.
3. Is the lab transparent?
If you want to work with a laboratory, visit it. If necessary, audits can also be arranged by your company. This way, you can directly examine the processes on site yourself.
You are always welcome to take a look around the laboratories of the Tentamus Group. Come by and let us show you everything on a tour, so you know exactly how your samples are processed.
4. Do the employees have expertise?
To ensure that you receive correct results and can discuss them with the laboratory staff if you have any questions, it is important that they have in-depth specialist knowledge and experience. The experts should be able to support you in the interpretation of the results and also provide competent advice regarding further analyses.
At Tentamus Group we place great emphasis on trained and experienced staff to ensure that you receive the best service.
5. Does the laboratory support you in case of a crisis?
Should a crisis ever occur, such as a product recall, you should ask yourself if your laboratory can support you. Can your contacts advise you quickly and competently in the case of a crisis?
We can support you in contacting the authorities in the case of a crisis and offer to work out crisis scenarios and trainings in advance.
6. How good and fast is the service?
The laboratory should meet the agreed turnaround times with you and communicate when they are delayed. In addition, the laboratory should also offer express testing for particularly urgent samples so that you receive your results as quickly as possible. If you have a problem, your contact person should be there for you and work with you to find a solution.
At Tentamus Group, customer satisfaction is our number one priority. We are always there for you and offer a fast service.
7. Is the laboratory advanced?
In the food industry, limits and laws change frequently. Therefore, your laboratory should always be up to date and informed. In order to process your samples as quickly and efficiently as possible, a lot of emphasis should also be placed on state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.
With our laboratories, you can be sure that we are always up-to-date in terms of equipment as well as know-how. With the Tentamus Innovation Hub, we also drive our internal development in the areas of digitalization, automation and sustainability.
8. Do you trust the laboratory?
All the points listed lead to a relationship of trust with your laboratory. You must be able to trust your laboratory to comply with all regulations and to always give you the best advice.
The safety of your products is the most important thing for us, so we are not only your contract laboratory but also your partner who stands by your side.
