One company, many opportunities: Combining theory and practice
An apprenticeship at Tentamus combines sound theoretical knowledge with practical experience in the workplace. From day one, we place great importance on integrating our apprentices into our teams and daily workflows.
All applicants go through essentially the same application process, regardless of whether they are applying for an apprenticeship or a position as a professional. Applications are submitted through our careers portal and then reviewed by the responsible teams. The next step usually involves interviews, where we assess whether we are a good fit for each other on a personal, professional and cultural level. Apprentices typically have a probationary period of around four months. The training contract is then prepared and registered in cooperation with the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), where the apprentices are officially registered.
Laboratory Training: Experience science first-hand
In our laboratories, apprentices gain insights into a variety of analytical methods and learn how samples are examined, measurements are carried out and results are evaluated. It is not just about theory, but above all about applying what they have learned directly in practice.
At our bilacon laboratory in Berlin, laboratory technician training is divided into several blocks. During the first 40 weeks, apprentices receive comprehensive basic training at BBZ Berlin. There, they acquire important theoretical and practical foundations on which they can build throughout the rest of their training.
Afterwards, approximately three-month training blocks at the company alternate with further training phases at BBZ. Depending on the year of training, apprentices spend around eight to twelve weeks per year at BBZ to deepen their knowledge and learn new skills.
At the laboratory, apprentices work in different areas and departments, gaining insights into various workflows, analytical methods and areas of expertise. They work closely with experienced colleagues and are gradually introduced to their responsibilities.
After just a few days, many apprentices already feel like part of the team. As they gain experience, they take on tasks independently and conduct analyses themselves. In this way, they develop not only their technical skills, but also a sense of responsibility, independence and an understanding of the importance of precise laboratory work.
IT Training: Shaping the digital future
Tentamus offers exciting entry opportunities not only in the laboratory but also in the IT sector. Modern laboratories rely on powerful IT systems, digital processes and reliable technical infrastructure.
An IT apprenticeship provides the opportunity to look behind the scenes of an international laboratory network and actively contribute to shaping the digital working environment. Apprentices learn how IT systems work, how technical problems are analysed and resolved, and how digital applications support and ideally simplify day-to-day work within the company.
Depending on the apprenticeship and area of responsibility, tasks may include maintaining hardware and software, supporting employees with technical questions, or contributing to digital solutions and internal IT projects.
What qualifications should you bring?
For a laboratory technician apprenticeship at bilacon, applicants should have completed at least the equivalent of Grade 10.
At TPMD, we currently have mainly apprentices with a school-based educational background. However, applicants with an academic background are also welcome. Depending on their previous education and individual qualifications, a shortened apprenticeship may also be possible.

Learning together and growing as a team
An apprenticeship at our company is not only about developing professionally, but also about meeting new people and becoming part of a community.
From the very beginning, our apprentices – both in the laboratory and in the office – are integrated into our company culture and invited to joint events. At bilacon, for example, these include the annual summer party and New Year's celebration. At the summer party, new apprentices are officially introduced and receive a small gift bag as a welcome gesture.
In addition, BBZ Berlin's training partners organise an introductory trip, giving apprentices the opportunity to make connections and get to know each other better.
TPMD also organises an action-packed event for its apprentices at least once a year. Last year, the team went paintballing, while this year the programme included axe throwing and archery.
Excellent future prospects
An apprenticeship at Tentamus is not only a way to enter the professional world – it can also be the beginning of a long-term career within the Group. For example, one of our apprentices who successfully completed their laboratory training in 2024 is now a team leader.
During their training, young talents get to know different departments and areas of the business. This knowledge is particularly valuable to us, as it enables them to understand how different parts of the company are connected and gives them insight into a wide range of responsibilities.
After successfully completing their apprenticeship, there are many opportunities available. In the laboratory, trained professionals can deepen their technical knowledge, specialise in specific analytical methods or take on greater responsibility as they gain experience. In IT, career development opportunities may include system administration, technical support or other areas of IT expertise. Further training and additional qualifications can also open up new career opportunities.
It is particularly important to us to support our young talents in the long term. If an apprenticeship is successfully completed, we strive to offer our apprentices a permanent position within the company.
